The Mended Hearts mission is “Inspiring hope and improving the quality of life for heart patients and their families through ongoing peer-to-peer support.”
Mended Hearts Chapter 351 is located in Whittier, CA and based at PIH Health Hospital – Whittier. We were founded in June 2005 thanks to the efforts of Dr. Eduardo Tovar, the Chief of Cardiothoracic surgery at PIH Health Hospital. He knows that heart patients and their families gain hope by seeing others who have survived heart disease and are healthy. Healthcare professionals continually praise the patient-to-patient connection as they witness firsthand the benefits to their patients’ overall recovery.

Mended Hearts Provides Education and Support Programs

Person-to-Person Visiting Program

  • Mended Hearts members are like the people they serve, heart patients and family members who serve others that are going through what they went through themselves. This allows them to draw on their own personal experience as they educate, reassure and inspire others.

Email & Phone Support

  • We provide on-going support with phone visits to patients and family members after their hospital stay. You can reach us by phone at 562-698-0811  Ext: 12368, by email at MH351@PIHHealth.org, or by using the form at the bottom of this page.

Monthly Meetings

  • Starting in September 2020, our monthly general meetings with professional speakers were changed to Zoom meetings. Our members are saying it’s very convenient and the meetings are recorded so if you miss one you can go back and see it. You can also call in if you don’t use the computer. The meetings are at 6 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Our speakers are Healthcare professionals who provide valuable health information and answer questions. Watch for our speakers and the call-in/Zoom link on our Facebook page here.

Support Group Program

  • This support group follows our monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The group shows people that a rich, rewarding life is possible after a heart event. Members listen, share their experiences, and discuss matters relating to lifestyle changes, depression, recovery, and treatment.
